I took Dinah with me today to a church to pick up tickets for their
Christmas concert One of the women in the church office came over and
asked me if Dinah was a King Charles. I said yes, that she was a Cavalier
King Charles Spaniel. She said that she had one at home. I asked
what color he was, and she said, "the same color as yours." I said that
Dinah was a tri-color. She said, "Mine doesn't look like yours
though. He's really big. Yours is really beautiful. I've
never seen one as pretty as yours." She was very obviously sincere and
just overcome by how beautiful Dinah was.

I asked how big, and she said he weighed about 25 lbs. and was 9 mos.
old. I told her that Dinah would be 13 years old in January. I got
the feeling she did not realize that was a very old age, and she didn't ask if
she had a heart problem. I have a feeling since she didn't even know the
name was Cavalier instead of King Charles, or to say "tri-color" that
she knows little to nothing about them.

I asked where she got him, and she said that there were some
breeders in Greeneville, TN, which is about an hour and a half from me in
Knoxville. She said she thought they had moved here from Ireland and
brought their dogs with them. I was expecting her to say she'd bought
him at a pet store after her earlier comments. I had no idea there was a
puppy broker so close to me. Has anyone heard of a broker in this
area? I would be really interested in any information anyone has on this
person.

This is not my church, so I had never met this person before. There
were so many people coming around to see Dinah that it wasn't the time to
educate. I really wish I'd given her my phone # and asked her to call me
some time to discuss Cavaliers and their health and care issues. It is so
sad to me that people like this woman have absolutely no idea how to find a
reputable breeder. I just hope she has a good vet.
