It was 10 year old semen from a golden retriever. His semen had been imported all over the world but never to the USA. I bought the last available semen and did the only USA import. After I purchased the semen he became the # 1 stud for 2000 and died at the ripe old age of 14. (Goldens live an average of 10 years.) My bitch usually had 8 pups with contact breeding. I did a transurgical implantation with progesterone levels to time the breeding. She delivered a total of 2 dead and 5 live pups. The dead pups looked like they had been dead about a week. I had no idea what happened to them but I think it was probably unrelated to the breeding process. I was very pleased with the outcome of the breeding even though I grieved the loss of the 2 stillborn pups.
