Thank you Peggy for writing the following which is what I was trying to say
but was too outraged by the comment to articulate properly!

whom I am in regular contact, here and abroad, and yes,
there are many, has a houseful of old dogs...some of us even have dogs that
have never been shown, never been bred, but who will be with us until they
die.
Personally I found that remark extremely offensive--nearly as offensive
as the implication that only "pet owners" are upset when their darling dogs
die. Poor Winnie...you have obviously met some not
nice people in this breed.
