Thanks for your kind words, Cathy. The fact is that I am not perfect. I have
forgotten to get some dogs tested for certain things. I haven't taken each
and every dog to a cardiologist every single time, as I trust my local vet
who works closely with the cardiologists, --my vet hasn't missed a problem
yet and he's been my vet since 1993. I too have been tempted to take risks
in my breeding program. When we had 60 - 70 dogs here, trying to manage all
the health tests and keep track of who was due for what and where was a
nightmare! We managed pretty well, despite it all. Unfortunately there are
those who seem to think that such oversights and/or admissions are evidence
of some evil and wicked desire to deceive them and the general buying public
Obviously these people are incapable of asking direct questions or
accepting answers at face value. Their attitude toward others can only be
described as 'guilty until proven innocent.'
Fortunately I am down to 30 of my own dogs and I am still continuing to drop
in numbers. I now share the kennel with another breeder so we really have 50
between us, but she is responsible for the testing on her own dogs. I look
forward to getting down to between 15 and 20 of my own, which is a really
manageable number! Hard to do when you are trying to breed 2 breeds in 4
colors each. I have some great Charlie pets if anyone is interested ;-)

Oh, by the way, I have several dogs who are age 8 and up. I expect them to
live out the rest of their lives here. This includes a mutt, named Tango,
who came to us as a 'Cavalier Rescue'. In all honesty he is a Cavalier sized
dog who is chocolate colored, has a big wide sporting spaniel head and the
body of a Tibetan with a tail that comes up over his back like a spitz. He
is neutered but only gets along with the girls - so he lives life with his
harem. He'll probably live out his days here too. He seems pretty old and
arthritic to me. And no, he does not get tested ;-)

Best,

Vanessa
