I have watched these discussions for the last few days and have spent the better part of those days shaking my head.
Why can't we just accept that there are people that are not willing to go to the lengths that some do when it comes to testing. I think that there are those that will test for everything and those that will use what is available to them at the time. There are vets that do expect you to drop your dog off early in the morning to do hips and refuse to do it without anesthesia. My vet is one of them and no matter how much argueing I do with them, they will not xray without anesthesia and they will make me leave the dog first thing in the morning to pick up latter in the day. I am fortunate that there is a vet 1 1/2 hours away from me that will do hips without anesthesia and does not insist on me being a regular patient, so my dogs go there to have their hips done. If it were not for him, I would be in the same boat as some of the others as I live in a very rural area and my choices are extremely limited when it comes to vets. This fortunately is probably a more forward country than some of the others and we have more choices where others may not. Why is it that we try to impose our viewpoints on others and when they don't agree with us, we feel that we have to beat it into them verbally.....just let it go and accept that there will always be people that choose other avenues than our own. I have said this once and I will say it again. I have to believe that the majority of breeders on this list have their dogs best interests at heart and maybe we approach things on different levels, but it is no reason to belittle or argue so much with each other.
