I my very limited experience in breeding (7 litters) I also have noticed substance loss in close linebreeding. My first five litters where very tight and while some of the dogs (puppies) maintained substance, most did not. Even though everything I read said to line breed (to maintain the type), I finally figured out that maybe I was too tight. For the last two litters I did an out cross (type to type) and was much happier with what I achieved (so far - one of the litters is only nine weeks old ;-) Susan Susan K Platt Claymoore Cavaliers Grand Blanc, MI 810 695-8979 [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.usol.com/~claymoore ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janet Dalton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2001 10:41 PM Subject: Re: [CKCS-L] Influential > Well to risk saying what I believe---and I have seen it again and again in > other breeds and I have studied it in Cavaliers--I mean exaggerated to mean > overdone.
