Annette, we always used to have lamb chops never any other meat, and  my
Mum never put cabbage in just the root vegetables, but she always served
red pickled cabbage on the side...

Lancashire hot pot is another similar dish  but made with  beef  and  with
layers of sliced potatoes over the top (like a pie crust) - they get all
brown and crunchy and I loved them...

Bubble and sqeak my Staffordshire sister-in-law calls "Squitch"!
