Years ago, due to a series of circumstances, I had a stud dog come to my
bitch for service. He was unproven and unable to perform. He seemed in
pain when he tried to breed. I took him to my vet for an AI. His output
was extremely bloody and there were just a few immotile sperm. The
diagnosis was a severe urinary tract infection and he was put on
antibiotics. His sperm count improved but was never normal. His desire
for breeding never developed. I believe he sired only one litter of two
pups and this was done by AI. Very sad as he was a gorgeous Cavalier.
