Hi - FWIW I had a similar problem with licking turning the paws pink, and probably excess moisture around the mouth causing brown staining. Not intentionally but almost by accident, I bought the wrong vitamin E caplets. I was using 400 mg and bought 1000 mg. by mistake. Guess what? after 2 weeks, all signs of licking (pink paws & spots) AND the brown around the mouth is gone. Might be coincidence, might not. Does anyone know if you can give them too much Vitamin E? I just figured I'd finish the bottle and go back to the 400 mg. but now I'm not so sure.
