Jolene,

I just checked at www.petdoors.com, and the regular pet door for walls is
10" thick. It says, though, that you can order a special adjustment to 16"
thick. Also, I just looked at my warranty, and the telephone # for Hale
Security Pet Doors is 1-800-888-8914. I called them and discussed this at
length before I ordered the door. I wanted to make sure I would still have
good insulation. You can get the wall unit with one flap or two, and I got
two flaps and a Medium sized door.

I'm not sure that just anyone could put the door in, though. I had someone
do it who does a lot of home remodeling work. I could be wrong, but it
seemed to me that it needed a skilled person to do this--making sure not to
cut into a support beam, etc.
