Both my terrible twins were occasional poop eaters when they were pups, Rowan more so than Russet. They grew out of eating their own quite quickly, but their great delight is still tortoise poop, the fresher the better.... I have seen Rowan follow the poop dispenser (errrm... tortoise) nose to rear after she has eaten, waiting for this great delicacy to be deposited in front of his face.
