Hi, Jan,
Yes, I, too think the same. Recently, we put half of our crew on Red
Barn food as a trial (the other half are on our home cooked diet) and
WOW did the half on Red Barn gain weight. (For anyone needing a food to
beef up their dogs I highly suggest Red Barn. <G>) We had some pudgy
dogs in two-three weeks time feeding the middle of the recommended
serving per dog. So, we went to the lowest end serving and they are all
now beginning to look more "svelte" again. (I like to be able to feel
ribs if I put my hands on them, but not see ribs; a soft covering over
the ribs usually looks best I think). We weigh our food before serving
so that we can get a pretty good idea of what is going into them. At
some point we will figure out the ideal serving size for each dog. The
weighing and such may seem a pain, but there is a lot of information to
be gained by watching this all, including knowing when something is
really "off".
