Peggy,
I know not everyone's nuts!! VBG
Look, I can understand the concern of people who have actually experienced a
health problem of some kind - that's happened to me too over the years. But
it seems to me that someone only has to mention some condition and its like
a sled that takes off and gathers speed until everybody feels they have to
jump out of the way just in case it hits them. (i.e. test for everything
just in case the dog MAY have something)

My perspective on the breed comes from many years, many visits to breeders
in many countries and from breeding many litters. On the sheer numbers bred,
some would classify me as "commercial" ( Hard to cut down on litters when
people keep ordering pups) but no more so than the "big name" breeders in
UK who commonly had many more dogs than I have kept over the years. But
having a show team and breeding nucleus for nearly 30 years and for 15 of
those running two breeding programs for two prefixes (Elvenhome and
Braganzar) means keeping more dogs than the "norm".
So my opinions come from experience, not from reading vet journals or
trawling though web sites to find more health related information than I
could read and absorb even if every day had 48 hours. Besides which. I
am too busy looking after the dogs to sit for hours in front of the
computer!
My experience from dealing with literally hundreds of pet buyers over the
years and feedback from them, tells me that this is a pretty healthy, robust
breed. The vast majority of Cavaliers do just what they are supposed to
do - provide love and companionship for a pretty good stretch of time. We
often hear on this list when a problem crops up, but we never seem to hear
about all the wonderful, long lived, healthy cavaliers who quietly and
without fanfare do their job.............
lets not forget them, lets try and keep a good perspective and a balanced
view that all is not doom and gloom!
Jeanie
