Hi all -
Well, I've never been accused of going with the crowd, so group think, while I see it
happening
all around me, is not something one will ever want to apply to me. (Thanks be!)
And it is true here in the states, too, that the medical fraternity has begun to
see the
value of the old "leech" treatment...personally I think I'd die first. I remember the
pond at a
camp I went to when I was a kid...we weren't supposed to go INTO the water, just boat
on
it...but you know kids...when we found out there were leeches in there, it became a
contest to
see who would have the most on them after walking in and then walking out. I can't
believe I
did that...then when I saw the movie African Queen, I nearly died when Bogie came out
of the
water with those damn leeches all over him...yikes!
Jeanie, I agree with everything you said. We seem to have an overabundance of
people in the
country, not just in Cavaliers, sorry to say, who are always looking for some new
problem or
other. In fact, it seems to be a hobby for many Cav people to condemn roundly anyone
who ever
had a dog die young (under 10), regardless of how many dogs that same person has
that've lived
well into their teens.
On the other hand, there are people everywhere with more money than brains, who
love
discovering problems almost as much as they enjoy winning--not that there is anything
wrong with
winning, I like it, too.
People who hear about Cavaliers here are amazed at the health problems they are
told have to
be expected in this breed. It's a wonder anyone can ever sell any, we make it sound so
fragile. Tell it to my guys, who run around in snow, sleet, and rain as well as fine
weather,
and who tear up and down the stairs, eat dog food as well as sticks, leaves, poop,
grass, bits
of my dinner if I forget to move the plate, popcorn, chips, candy, veggies, in fact,
anything
they can get...
they have no idea they are supposed to be so fragile.
You're absolutely right...all is not doom and gloom. We just seem to want to make
it so.
Peggy
