Having seen many many I think the most important thing which ties into the
vet issue is to never let them take your bitch into a c section without
standing in. The pups come out so fast that it requires a team effort. The
vet doing the surgery the tech is usually on anaesthesia. Which leaves the
receptionists office workers and high school part timers cleaning up cutting
umbilical chord stimulating to breathe etc. Not a good thing at all to have
them witness the miracle of birth at your litters expense. They cannot hold
them I have seen them cut the chord between the clamp and the body instead of
the outside, drop them. Not be rough enough when trying to make them breathe
and toweling them as they are scared of them just holding them while they are
gasping. Also a puppy can be lost if enough time is not spent reviving hard
to do when they are handing the next to you .It is your job to run that crew
and you better be there or they are on their own with no experience half the
time. It is pretty much an assembly line with a large litter. Also if tech is
having to supervise this too I have seen the mask fall off the dog being
operated on. Good grief a circus. Chere Workman
