Hi, All-- I've been offline for a time, and upon reading about ten days' worth of posts to the lists I'd like to comment on the amount of acrimony I saw. I'm not speaking of spirited discussion and differing points of view; I digested a few examples of what I have to call thinly-disguised vitriol. Susan Cochran wrote regarding the list: "I know the names of the people who post, but am startled when approached by one of the many list members who lurk instead of perticipate. I don't know them, but they feel that they know me. BTW, I don't mind this but do wish that others would speak up--although it does take a sturdy suit of armor at times, LOL." With all due respect to Susan, this immediately brought to mind an incident a year or so ago where a very respected UK breeder, who had tons to offer to the readers of this list (I'm not connected to this person in any way, nor do I have any of their dogs), wrote a well-meaning post in response to a question and was so roundly set upon that s/he hasn't posted since. Like many, s/he has forsaken that suit of armor, and the list, outright. This to me is a real shame. I am certain that there are others who post infrequently (if at all) for the same reason. I'm here to learn and think this list is invaluable. Let's not tolerate abuse of it, or one another.
