Today is my Prudence's (Downsbank Prudence) birthday! She is 14 years old!
Although her laryngeal paralysis is gettting worse she is doing fairly well.
She still gets up and down a few stairs, can jump onto a couch, has total
control of bladder and bowel, responds normally to me and wags her tail
constantly. Her biggest problem is she is losing her ability to swallow and
is losing weight. She can only swallow hard, small pieces of kibble and
very thin liquids like water or broth. Ensure is too thick, canned food
impossible. I'm going to find out if there is either a high calorie,
nutrient dense oil that will soak into the kibble or a powder that can be
mixed into water to give her extra calories. She is still doing too well to
think about letting her go!
