Excellent points, Carol

I'd add - some water from home - sometimes water at new locations can
upset tummies -
        - and enough food for the trip - changes in food definitely can cause
digestive upsets!
        - and some toys / bed / blanket - things that smell of 'home'
-and maybe some treats / cookies - for snacks along the way -

I'd also look at that crate as a good place to make sure your pet is a
'welcome guest' - for containment if you go out to dinner, a bed at
night --- puppies sometimes forget their house breaking rules when they
are in new environments - especially when the routine is different - as
it almost always is when visiting!

Good luck!
Joan
