Many years ago when I was living in Ottawa I witnessed a very frightening scene in the
Toy Group ring. I did not have an entry that day but was working at the show and took
time to watch the Group being judged.
A proff. handler had a black and tan in the group and was kneeling and stacking the
poor dog with it's head extended hoping to show a length of neck which it did not have.
It was a hot and humid day, the judge was turning to mark her book when the poor
cavalier collapsed. The dog did recover, it was termed heat exaustion. The judge was
not amused and afterwards told the handler never to do that with a short nosed breed
again. At the time I was most unimpressed with the whole scenario ( still am in fact )
There were so many things wrong with this incident that it would take too much time to
go into here but it does go to show that a free stacked dog not only looks better but
can breath properly too.
