Rally is a fairly new addition to AKC performance. Dog and handler complete
a course that has been designed by the judge. The handler may talk to the dog
as they go through the "stations" on the course at their own pace, and each
station has a sign telling what needs to be done there. Depending on the
level the stations include things like a halt, right turn, left turn, about
turns, call the dog front, slow pace, fast pace, normal pace, finishes,
pivots, send over jumps, and others. Handlers may talk to the dog, praise
the dog, clap hands and encourage the dog--unlike obedience, but it's not
really related to agility.
