< However, I don't find it offensive or in any way reflecting on breed standard either in a positive or negative way. So long as she didn't "pose" or hard stack the Cavalier, it was shown naturally. I do think she did us great credit both last night and in the past years. >
> You present it as if it is a personal preference on how to show Cavaliers.> And that it is!! < I tend to think the president of the parent club and those who run judging seminars etc etc etc may disagree. They do not teach personal habit. They teach the belief in the way Cavaliers should be shown. < They teach THEIR belief in the way Cavaliers should be shown. I have a great respect for these people but dictate to me how to show my dogs. Not a chance!! >This is not the way Cavaliers were meant to be shown. < Who said? I, like most, believe Cavaliers should be shown naturally and as, I've previously posted, as long as the handler does not hand stack or top & tail then, in my opinion, the dog is showing naturally. Judges should be looking at the dogs, not at what the handler is doing. My dogs are not robots. Some days they do a great job all on their own and some days they need a little more guidance. If this requires me doing something other than standing upright then so be it. Ring presentatiion is a team effort between the dog and handler. I have seen handlers who steadfastly refuse to do anything but stand upright, continuously worry their dogs with their feet, moving them round trying to get the perfect stance. Not for me thanks. If my dog needs a little help from me on the day, even if it's going on one knee, then it will certainly get it. My apologies for a longer post than I had intended but this "dictatorship attitude" just fries my nerves.
