Hi, Glenn,
Just my opinion on this one. I tend to show young pups every other day
because the excitement does get them tired. I don't think it would harm
the pup to be shown every day, but it IS tiring and you don't get the
attitude for which you are looking. In the end.....for MY pups, this has
to be fun. And, even for me, four days is a long time and not always
fun. <G> If the show was local, and the pup could come home for the
evening, I might show three out of the four days or whatever, very much
depending on ring times. I don't want the pups to get the idea that
this is too much work and stress, but more like an outing.
I would pick the shows in which I really wanted the dog to have a
chance with an eye to judges who are kind to the pups. There are some
on my "list" to whom I'll not show a young pup as they are rough
handed. What I would want out of this is a good experience. (Or MORE
good experience if they have been shown before).
To give you an example of how it can go wrong.........I have a pup here
just over a year old. She was entered in a local show and got her
majors fast. Unfortunately, a judge wasn't happy enough with seeing her
bite and occlusion, but needed to see her tonsils? (Or that's how it
seems when she very roughly pulled open her mouth and growled at my
pup). Now I'm faced with finishing her last point and will only put her
in front of very kind judges. She has bounced right back, but others of
mine would not have so done.

So, my thought would be to pick the days that you most want to show,
consider the judges and their record for kindness and go have fun! (You
may want to check out the K9judgemental list archives to see what is
said about judges and their handling of youngsters).
