Suze,
I am appalled that a judge would growl and look at your puppy's tonsils!
Please email me privately and tell me who would have done such a thing.
Also, what is the address for the K9 Judgmental List archives?
Thank you for sharing this advice.

To give you an example of how it can go wrong.........I have a pup
here
just over a year old. She was entered in a local show and got her
majors fast. Unfortunately, a judge wasn't happy enough with seeing her
bite and occlusion, but needed to see her tonsils? (Or that's how it
seems when she very roughly pulled open her mouth and growled at my
pup
So, my thought would be to pick the days that you most want to show,
consider the judges and their record for kindness and go have fun! (You
may want to check out the K9judgemental list archives to see what is
said about judges and their handling of youngsters).
Suze
