I've had a dog whose testicles descended at six months, but he had two at eight weeks and pulled one back up. That one stayed up until he was exactly six months old. Just one of those odd things that happen. I also had another dog, a gorgeous tri from Flirt's second litter, whose testicle descended after I placed him at 10 months of age.
It would depend on the dog. I would make an exception and wait until 6 months if the dog was really outstanding. As a general rule though, I want the testicles to be down by 8 weeks.
