All this talk of undescending testicles reminds me of a funny experience when I
first started showing cavaliers. It was about sixteen years ago in North of England.
I think it would have been around my fourth or fifth show, so, I was still a little
nervous. I had a lovely little dog and bitch puppy to show and quite confidently put
the little girl up on the table for examination. The judge was the daugther of a
fairly well known English judge, and it was one of her first appointments too. The
judge (NO.......I won't tell!:-)), went over my puppy, and looked up at me with a
perfectly straight face and said, " Do you know this dog only has one testicle?"
I was at a loss, still feeling a bit green to the show world, and, always being
told that I must not talk to judges! I just looked at her equally straight faced and
in a quiet voice said" Do you know this dog's a bitch!" She smiled, carried on, and
gave me the class! The ironic thing was that the dogs and bitches were shown
seperateky, so, I could only assume she was feeling a mite nervous also! She
ultimately gave my male Best Puppy and as she gave me the rossette, she leaned in to
me and said" Thank you!" It was so funny and it sure cured a lot of my nervousness
back then. Judges are *human*.
Silly really, but, I've never forgotten it.
