I remember Emil well.  I began showing Maltese in '67.  Winne Heckman
judged the National Specialty in MA in the early 70's.  All was fine until
she came to the upper classes.......and then she spent extra time feeling
the top knots.  One....by......one, she pulled filler out of the top knots
and gave the thumb to the offenders while holding up the filler for all to
see. Several of the specials were thumbed out as she said not a word to
them - just the thumb.  Everyone had the greatest respect for Winnie for
judging correctly.
