Terminology is an interesting thing. Very often there are phrases used within
breeds that have no meaning elsewhere. I have been "in dogs" for 30 years and
around Cavaliers for five. Until today I'd never heard the term "double
pigmented eyes". Which brings me to my favorite topic -- judges education.....

What happens when a well-meaning, knowledgeable fancier uses a term like that one
while giving an educational seminar to a room full of prospective judges who come
from other breeds? It sounds to me like that could happen here. There's an
immediate break between the presenter and the audience and adequate learning
doesn't take place. Unfortunately I've seen it many times.

There is a wonderful book available by Harold Spira called Canine Terminology.
If you're interested, it's basically the bible of the terminology used by the
(AKC) judging community and is available again in reprint. If you're interested
in pursuing dog terminology take a look at it. It's pretty good!
