My,opinion on the Razor blades, I would err to the side of caution and less expense, having spent 2500 on abdominal surgery on an Aussie bitch and only just pulled her from the brink of death. I would go with the vet. IMO the reason the vet is looking for other opinions is because they don't know either. I would go for the fibre full diet and this too shall pass. I have had some very odd things show up well after the fact.
Free stack. Is a trained talent. There are many Sheltie, Aussie, and Cavalier handlers who never get down with their dogs. Many are owner handled to BIS levels. I have heard a judge go dwn the line of kneeling handlers a and tell them to stop praying and get up and show. I don't know about the US, having only show rarely, and taking a 5 point first timein with someone elses bitch. I have show alot in Canada and at Aussie specialties in the US. I rarely get down to show unless I have a dog who won't show neck and needs to have help to get that arch. Boxer is one. I have gotten down with a young dog and free stacked froma kneeling position in front to give them confidence, but I never head n tail em unless the judge is going over the front, I will hold betweenb the back legs especially for an insecure youngster.
