Chere, Thank you for taking the time to post this information! I have one
other question, which may or may not be relevant to others on the list:
While I know the wall-to-wall carpeting I have is the most effective
floorcovering for *soundproofing* (which is essential where I am), do you
have any impressions of how your Winton floor compares? -- (I'm still
holding out a shred of hope, since you said your floor is a thick vinyl).
        Thanks again!!

<<<I am going to respond to this on list. I have had 10 private emails
wanting
to know the name of my wonderful flooring. It is made by Winton and it is
called Wood Classic Vinyl Plank. It comes in boardlike little planks and is
thick and I had professionals install it. It is not shiny or cheap looking
like fake wood. Everyone thinks it is real wood. It costs $125.00 for 35.73
sq. ft. So far it has been totally waterproof as it is in my bath, utility
and downstairs gameroom where I have the crates and they come blazing for
those crates at dinner time and I have yet to see any scratches and I drag
the dog crates(metal) around on it no problem. It is a commercial flooring.
They had it on the floor of the warehouse at the carpet outlet when I went
to
look at carpet. Everyone has carried off all my little left over pieces
after
looking at me with pity and asking oh you put hardwoods in this active
area.Ha Ha fooled you its vinyl..then they carry off the little pieces.so I
had to call the store. Some of it is already distressed looking which is what
I got..old barn wood. I wish I had put it everywhere. I have wood upstairs
much harder to keep and you cant use harsh chemicals on it to clean it like
you can the vinyl. Having bought "this old House" in Austin overlooking the
lake I am a font of information on redoing old houses with dogs and kids but
much poorer. This week it was windows fin type??. Chere Workman >>>
