EEEEEGADS!!!!!! "Old Glory" is a popular term here in USA for the Stars and Stripes! I read a little up on the origins of this, and the term was popularized by one William Driver, a ship captain, "when a flag was presented to him by ladies of Salem, Massachusetts..in 1831 on a voyage around the world." Apparently he popularized the term "Old Glory" at the many ports he visited. He retired to Tennessee, and brought the original "Old Glory" out to fly atop the Tennessee State Capitol during the early months of the US Civil War when Union troops occupied Nashville, 1862.
