All right, my dad had a glory hole. (Bet that gave a bunch of you a laugh,
huh?) Dad's glory hole was located in his workshop/laundry room. You
could find almost anything you wanted (and a lot of stuff you didn't want)
in there. Contents of the glory hole were determined by the following
parameters:
a) I don't need this anymore, at least right now.
b) I might need this someday
c) If you keep it for seven years, you will find a use for it
d) If you haven't found a use for it in seven years, keep it another seven
(and try harder)
I once asked Dad why he called it his "glory hole". His reply was that his
Dad and granddad both had called theirs by the same name and to his
knowledge it was named because when my great granddad found anything he was
looking for there his normal statement was "Well Glory Be, it WAS in
there!".

Now folks, being a bit more worldly than my ancestors, I have serious
doubts that my dads glory hole is in any way related to the one being
currently discussed. It is, however, a more acceptable subject for a
public forum. Therein lies the difference between the two. <VBG>

To keep this cavalier related. Dad was always bringing home the stray that
he found by the side of the road, or one that someone gave him. He loved
dogs all his life and had a particular affinity for spaniels. I do wish he
had been fortunate enough to have a cavalier before his death in 1994.
Dad's favorite saying mentioned 'heaven on earth'. He would have been
there with a cavalier.
