Hi Susan,

I totally agree. Having had goldens before, and looking for a smaller

version as I age(yuck!) I happened upon the Cavalier. The standard is

soooo similiar (except for head) and their temperment, movement (as the
list has been discussing interestingly and extensively) and behaviors
are so much like a sporting dog that, to me, it would be natural to have
them in the sporting group. I do think I remember that when they first
were being considered for recognition by the AKC there was discussion of
which group they should be in (those with longer experience will know
this for sure) sporting was considered. I'm not sure why they were not,
although have this faint (that age thing again!) remembrance of
referring to the companion nature of the cav as including them in the
toy group.

Does anyone out there know more about this?

Linda
