There were several large breeders who controlled much of what was voted on regarding the split with the club by controlling their pet puppy buyers. I do believe the outcome of the vote would have been the same with the question worded the way that it was, but perhaps it would not have been such an angry scenario and perhaps a compromise could have been reached. I don't believe the majority of the active members would ever have voted for the harsh penalities that were handed out to those who chose to align with the AKC. The active exhibitors and breeders knew what we would be losing by forcing those members to take the stand that they did by requiring them to admit they had sinned and to pay a stiff monetary fine. I believe that is part of the problem now with accepting AKC dogs. I have been told that if brought to a general vote it will be voted down. By whom? Certainly not by the members who breed and are concerned about our narrow gene pool. Phyllis
