That is wonderful that you care so much, not only about your dogs, but the breed as a whole. However, it does not qualify you as an expert on many matters that govern the breed and the showing of dogs. Yes, you are allowed to vote for your Senators and Congressmen, but you are not the one who casts the votes on issues affecting our economy, our health or our foreign relations policy. What you do is vote for the experts who make those decisions. If you want a seat in Congress, you have to be elected to that position and I don't believe that love of country would be enought to persuade the general electorate to vote for you. There is no disrespect intended. I appreciate the passion you feel about this breed as well as the fact that you are active on this list due to an obvious desire to learn as much as you can. But without a hands-on involvement your vote is only slightly more valuable than all the other pet owners who love their dogs yet feed them canned generic dogfood and vaccinate their dogs every time the vet wants to go on vaccation so he sends out hundreds of postcards about an overdue office visit. > Charlotte, Please do submit anappplication to CKCSCUSA. I think they have > exactly what you need. Thanks Judy....I am actually in favor of pet people attending our shows. Not everyone has to win their class to have a good time. If someone wants to take the effort to attend our shows and to attend our meetings they would hear the discussions about the issues we are voting on. MOST of our voting does take place at these meetings so personal attendance helps insure informed voters (I think, and I am sure that if I am wrong there will be many only too happy to correct me.) Yes, issues like the acceptance of AKC only dogs will be addressed in a general mailing. We can't control everything....we can only do our best to see that we have educated those who will care enough to return their ballots and that those who are not informed or involved will not be interested enough to vote. (We hope.) I usually don't agree with the general electorate on their choice of elected officials but still would not care for any other system than the one we have in this country. I am now stepping down from my soapbox.
