Kris- for our 10th Anniversary we flew out of Long Beach Harbor, Via helicopter to Catalina Island , CA where there are rentable golf carts to get about or walking only. Cars are not allowed on the island. We left from Long Beach Harbor and if you want to bring your cavalier you can take the Ferry across and bring along your dogs. Five minutes by helicopter -half a day over by ferry.
For excersize , the Wrigley monument is a good climb. Even I got to the top eventually,very much out of breath. I was suprised to find a botanical garden- a casino - underwater glass bottom boats- tour buses of the island- water rentals for jet ski- free floating platform to sit and enjoy the weather -and shopping and dining and lots of pleasure craft anchored in the harbor for those who live or travel by yachts. Very relaxing vacation. Would I bring along the furkids now that we have had the experience? Probably not. The rental cars dont allow dogs and several other rides and restraunts aren't set up to be dog freindly.
