Jan, I feel for you (and the poor puppy, and her owners).  Any chance you
*could* actually call the vet yourself? (Maybe say you're a member of a list
of 600+ members, national and worldwide, all of whom are closely following
reports of this puppy's plight - hey, maybe this person could use a little
pressure! --  I don't have your original post here but I have the impression
the vet was a little quick to throw up his hands?)  If you're not
comfortable going that far it's understandable - maybe the owner or breeder
would say this?  Just had to ask, for what it's worth...
