not a dumb question at all. Indoors I use a hand-held mist bottle as the mist is finer and there isn't the "soaking" the garden sprayer will give. Outside, it's "everywhere I see ants" and routinely every 10 days for a month around the dog yard - outside the yard as well as inside.
