Norma... I think that is an interesting concept, but before anything can go forward in the USA... the CKCSC-USA needs to be a stop the rationalizing of past wrongs to the 12 who started the ACKCSC, and a formal apology needs to be given in a public forum. This would be a healthy first step...
These individuals (the 12) have risen about this past deeds and moved onto the issues and needs of CKCSs. They have given strong leadership and "road out the storm" for the good of the breed...since they knew the potential of problems of a breed moving into full AKC privileges. I am glad they were there to help this breed during a very precarious time with judge education and developing standards. The news are positive for the breed in AKC, since there are many AKC registered health tested CKCSs available and the list will continue to increase in the future. Currently there is a need for research in MVD and other critical issues with the CKCSs. I vision these AKC breeders spearheading these issues supporting well designed research with the canine health foundation assistance.. I feel the CHIC program will be put in place to collect needed data on disease patterns in the USA...and breeding quidelines being published based on these findings. I have faith that the future is going to be strong for the CKCSs in the USA due to the selfless leadership initiated by the 12...and carried on by others due to their sound example. Again...Maybe healing can start when the wrongs are accounted for...and exposed as such. In studying of human behavior, we see that people with true character demonstrate the quality of being accountable and this generates true growth...others are paralyzed by rationalization and the sense of control.
