Hi Marilyn,
The term "dirty" dozen does indeed come from the movie of the same name
and is used with much affection by those of us who know how much courage it
took on their part to forge ahead to protect the breed as best they could in
the AKC. Without them the breed would have been recognised anyway and who
knows what standard or education programs would have been initiated. Surely
none that would have done the breed proud.
