As I recall Judy, this is considerably less than last year. That's not a Wow. That's sad..................... The club will have many more entries if they will have judges selection in a fair way, not always a big secret, and then surprising us all with the judges the board says were elected. I do not know anyone who voted for the judges this year of the MANY I have spoken with. We see no printed vote count (which other clubs do), and the way the board presents us with the people to vote on is un-democratic and also not fair. Other clubs EACH YEAR have the GENERAL membership send in names. They take the highest 6 and those are voted on for 2 years later. They publish the names, send out ballots and the votes are counted by an independent and published for all the GENERAL membership to see. As I recall, about 2-3 years ago the GENERAL membership received a list of EVERYONE who could judge Cavaliers to vote on. (Have not been allowed to vote since!) That alone defeated even voting as it was so diluted, that a judge could win with 10 votes!!!!! And I am sure this is what happened. Your board then picked about 2-3 years worth of judges with no word to the General membership. We are all kept in the dark. Not even allowed to see the final vote count. Democratic, I think not............ There will be a continued drop in entries if this practice continues. The moral of the general membership is very low because of this and other problems such as not having general members run committees. Of the 15 committees within the club ALL are done by Board members with the exception of 3. New people on the board came in waving flags, and promised to bring the club back to the General members, but those few we were counting on have blended right into the "old board" which in my opinion is being run like the "old club."
