In the event that changes are made to the breed standard, or a review is necessary, the Kennel Club usually initiates the subject either from internal requests or from pressure from breed councils or breed clubs - to review a particular issue. All breed clubs are invited to put their point of view across, and in the past the Committee of the ten different breed Club/Societies (in Cavaliers) have reviewed issues and report back to the Kennel Club. These 10 individual responses are reviewed equally by the Kennel Club, along with any supporting information, prior to making their decision on a particular issue.
When the Committee of any of our CKCS Clubs/Society is voted in office, all members have one vote, (with the exception of Junior members) - totally democratic. All breed clubs/societies are equal and have an equal input - again democratic. Hope this helps. Regards Maryann Hogan Stavonga (UK) > Just curious. Are pet owners in the UK allowed to vote on the breed > standard? Do pet owners there have an equal vote to a breeder?
