I am new to Cavaliers - but in other breeds, to add muscle / bulk to
rears we increased exercise as well as food intake - long (longer)
walks, walks / runs up steps / hills - extra calories alone may make
for a nice round-tummy & still no appreciable increase in muscle mass,
unless the exercise is increased along with the food -
Just my 'gut response' to your inquiry -
Best of luck to you!
