Okay--the ring was too small and there were no new commemorative T-shirts.
BUT--the camaraderie was pretty good, the dogs were wonderful, and--without benefit of laying a hand on the winning dogs--the judging looked pretty good, too. I think we gave up ring size to have a show indoors with air conditioning. There are always tradeoffs. Another part of the country probably SHOULD host the National, but the 10 1/2 hours it took me to get to Philadelphia is about the most I can spend driving. If the National is held in California, I probably won't be able to make it. But there are many exhibitors from California who do make it to Philadelphia each year. If they're able to host a specialty in their own backyard, more power to them. Oh, yes, the advantage of dividing the Best of breed competition into little groups: those of us showing got to be outside of the ring looking in, with a catalog in our hands, identifying who the lovely competition was. It was a great National. It was not a disappointment, but yes, it could be improved on. And I really don't need another T-shirt with the year on it.
