The posts on aggression have been so helpful, I wonder if anyone can help me
with this?

Apart from my bedfellows (numerically variant depending on temperature), my
dogs sleep in my kitchen and hallway with no problems at all. I come down
in the morning and let them out, put the kettle on and make myself a cup of
tea. It should be said that I am not a morning person ... and they're all
so pleased to see me that most of them bark with excitement knowing they're
about to charge around outside and check on what's been happening there
overnight.

How on EARTH do I stop them doing this? I've tried ignoring them and making
the tea first. I have tried waving a rolled up newspaper about and hitting
myself with it. I have tried going "Ssssshhhh." I have tried letting them
out in shifts, I've tried yelling at them to shut up, I have tried asking
them in a reasonable tone not to bark. I have trilled at them sweetly, I
have sung to them like Julie Andrews (oh yes I have!). I have explained to
them that I don't enjoy being barked at first thing in the morning (usually
between 6 and 6.30) and that one of us has to change and it is unlikely to
be me.

Any suggestions?

Best

Sheena
