Does the regurg amount return to normal after the blood volume returns to
normal in humans? I do know that some bitches will have a very slight
murmur for a period of time after being in season which disappears as the
blood volume returns to normal, but I thought this would be more along the
lines of a turbulence type murmur with no regurgitation involved. Sounds
like some regurgitation could be involved even if there is no actual mitral
valve disease involved. Makes me wonder if a pregnancy could worsen MVD
permanently or even trigger it a bit earlier.

Since close to 50% of all Cavaliers have developed MVD by age 5 or 6 and
many bitches are bred in that age category and we only check for MVD once a
year--it is possible that quite a few bitches are pregnant during the
beginning stages of MVD.

I wonder if there could be any protective hormonal influences from a
pregnancy that could offset the negatives of being pregnant while some
regurgitation is present.
