Is she truly gaunt--or just thin? If they are thin I don't worry at all. I
like them to be thin when growing!

I haven't had a single picky eater in years, maybe because I don't worry
anymore (or maybe because I subconsciously tended not to keep the picky
eaters? feeling they were not vigorous enough for me? or something . . .).

What I used to do when I did have one though (not sure if this is safe for a
10 month old however) is if the dog was picky at one meal, I would make a
big deal out of feeding the rest of the dogs and just plain not feed the
picky one at all! Believe me the picky dog would run around looking at me
because I had *forgotten* to feed him/her. The next meal the dog would
usually eat rather quickly--thankful I *remembered* to feed him/her. I kept
doing this until the dog was no longer picky.

I've only had a couple of TRULY gaunt, very picky eaters over 26 years and
to be honest none of them turned out to be a *vigorous* type--in fact they
all turned out to be not as healthy as the not-at-all-picky ones. So I may
have been slowly creating a line of good-eating Cavaliers. But then again
few Cavaliers are truly that picky--most are eating plenty--for them! It is
their owners who want them to eat more. Sometimes what is actually a finer,
leaner type body is looked upon as thin--but in actuality the puppy is not
at all thin, it just carries a lean frame.
