I feed the sardines for nutritional value, I read about giving sardines once
or twice a week on Wendy Vollhard's site (I think it was her's). They are
supposed to be very good for dogs.   I have a hunch that my crew like them
for there 'stink' :)

I buy mine from the local Pet Supply. Steve's is a frozen raw diet with meat
