Hi Cindy,

Let common sense prevail here.  Unlike us, dogs don't
perspire - they pant.  However, wettiing down their
coat will give a cooling effect just like it does to
our skin.  As far as I know, a dog not being able to
control its body temp when wet is poppycock.  We are
dealing with mammals here, not reptiles.  However, I
would not throw ice water on a dog in hot weather as
it might be a shock to the system.  Do what would make
you feel more comfortable in hot weather and your
furry friend will apprecate it.
