How perfect is this description, Peggy! My 12-year-old is the Alpha here and the others (and the visitors) all kiss up to her, and yes, it is she who sits on all the new toys until I notice that she has done this and I make her give them up. The only time I do not allow any 'subtle posturing' at all is at feeding time. Each dog is fed in their crate with the door closed. I never, and I do mean NEVER, allow any squabbling over food or treats or anything else. As to the barking, I have one who runs the fence 'barking" at neighbors she can hear but not see. Alpha ignores her and so do all the others. It's such a relief! <G> Judy Gates ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
