When they sell a puppy, often for more money, and hold out that dog to be a "show prospect" then they are passing on that risk to the buyer. What you are saying is that a breeder could say, "hey, I don't have a crystal ball. I'll sell all my dogs as "show prospect" and the buyers can take it or leave it." Why not? Breeders make mistakes and sell show dogs as pets all the time. So why not just sell them all as show dogs and "let the buyer beware."
